Privacy Policy

NrdNst ("we", "us") is a dating app for nerd and geek culture. You must be 18 or older to use NrdNst. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices.

1. Information we collect

• Account information — email address (or Apple Sign-In identifier), and a hashed password managed by our authentication provider (Supabase Auth). We do not store plaintext passwords.
• Profile information — display name, date of birth (to verify you are 18+), derived age, city/state, pronouns, gender identity, who you're interested in, fandoms, "currently playing/watching/reading", and bio.
• Photos — images you upload, which are held for moderation and shown to other users only after approval.
• Messages — the content of messages you exchange with matches.
• Usage & subscriptions — swipes, matches, RSVPs, and subscription status (via RevenueCat / Apple).
• Diagnostics — crash and performance data (via Sentry).
• Product analytics — events such as sign-ups and matches (via PostHog).

We do not collect your precise GPS location, phone number, or contacts in this version. City/state is entered manually.

2. How we use information

• Operate core features: profiles, discovery, matching, messaging, conventions.
• Verify age and enforce our 18+ requirement.
• Keep the community safe (moderation, reports, blocking, photo review).
• Process subscriptions and entitlements.
• Diagnose crashes and improve the product.

3. How information is shared

• With other users: your approved photos, display name, age, city/state, pronouns, fandoms, and bio appear on your profile card. Your exact birth date, email, and precise location are never shown.
• Service providers: Supabase (database/auth/storage), RevenueCat + Apple (payments), Sentry (crash reporting), PostHog (analytics). Each processes data only to provide their service.
• Legal & safety: we may disclose information to comply with law or to protect users from harm.
• We do not sell your personal data.

4. Photo moderation

Uploaded photos default to pending and are reviewed before becoming public. Rejected photos are not shown to others; you can see your own pending/rejected photos with the reason.

5. Your choices and rights

• Edit your profile at any time.
• Hide your profile to remove yourself from discovery.
• Block and report other users.
• Delete your account in Profile → Settings → Delete Account. Deletion removes you from discovery and deletes/anonymizes your profile data; we may retain limited moderation records as required for safety and legal compliance.

6. Data retention

We keep your data while your account is active. After deletion we remove or anonymize personal data, retaining only what's legally required (e.g. records of serious abuse reports).

7. Children

NrdNst is strictly for adults 18+. We do not knowingly allow anyone under 18. Suspected underage accounts are removed.

8. Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Access is restricted by row-level security so users can only read/write their own data and approved public content.

9. Changes

We'll update this policy as the product evolves and note the effective date.
